We have a whole lot of GREAT competitions in store for you at Beach Hop 2010!


Best Dressed
Make sure you are dressed in your finest retro threads during the festival and be in the chance to win one of the FANTASTIC spot prizes we have lined up. Our scouts will be out and about EVERY DAY of the festival checking out the Dolls and Dudes to see who has “got the look” nailed.

60's Surf Fest
Sunday 28th March – Main Beach – 8am
Well the Surf Gods were with us for the Surf Comp at BH09 and we've ordered a nice 1m swell for Beach Hop 2010 as this unique event showcases surfing how it used be back in the 60's. Entry forms will be on the day!
 

Centrury Batteries Retro Beauty Show in association with Rita Sue
Saturday 27th March – Williamson Park (Surf Club) – 4:30pm
Here’s one for all you good looking gals! Dress up in your very best 50’s and 60’s gear and have a crack at being crowned Retro Beauty Queen of the Hop 2010. Our expert panel of judges will be having a good perv, errr….. judging you on your style and charisma. You can dress up in your favourite ball gown, dress or 60’s style incey wincey polka dot bikini. Up for grabs is a SONY BRAVIA 40" TV and $200 Rita Sue Voucher..... Entry is FREE!

LOVE NZ Junkyard Fashion Show – 3:30pm Saturday 27th
We introduced this last year and the quality was stunning. So this year we’ve promoted it to the main event at the Kicker Reserve for Sony Xplod Beach Hop 2010 at 3:30pm. All costumes must be made from car parts – used of new. The sky is the limit here so get out into the shed and make something from all those left over car parts. Up for grabs is a wonderful Sony Handycam digital video recorder!

Whanga Bar Hop Idol

Heats Fri 26th March 7:30pm at the Whanga Bar
FINAL Sat 27th March - Williamson Park (Surf Club) – 3:30pm

One of the all time favourite highlights of the festival is the Whanga Bar Hop Idol. Fancy yourself as a a rock star? Reckon you can do a better a job than the wanna be celeb’s on TV – well that won’t be hard! Pick up an entry form from the Whanga Bar during the festival. There are over 200 songs from the 50’s and 60’s that you can choose from and 2 winners from each heat will get to perform in front a huge crowd at the FINAL on Saturday! And did we mention the 40" SONY BRAVIA TV  1st prize and $100 for runner up? Not bad for 3 minutes work! Our celebrity panel are looking forward to judging who will be the next HOP IDOL!

The public can vote for their favourite vehicle by placing money into the bucket in front each one – the car & bike that raises the most in 2 hours are crowned the winners and share over $1000 in prizes!
