1965 Chev Impala SS Coupe Tee shift , 396 cu in with Edlebrock manifold and 4 barrel, bucket seats, swing steering wheel, turbo 400 trans, 1969 disc brakes fitted with power booster and rear limiter, 15” wheels and white walls, new shocks and suspension springs, limited slip dif, MSD HEI electronic pointless ignition, original working AM radio with central rear speaker and rear electric aerial, new high tech burglar alarm, twin rear exhausts, original sales brochure!, personalized number plate, Colonel Bogie Horns (originals still in place), original wheel trims (it’s the reason I bought the car!), 396 big block V8 (give me another hill!). The Chev was purchased in Oregan USA when it was 6 months old and the chap held it until 2004 when it was imported into NZ. It had an underbody steam clean and all new suspension bushes, springs and shocks done and a black paint job. The red paint was shot and it was repainted ‘HSV Sting Red’ in Tauranga in 2006. Upholstery is mostly original and the white with silver trim sets the vehicle off just nicely.Ben Klemenson said in the “MUSCLE CAR, The 500 Series” book; “Cars don’t come much more beautiful than the 1965 Impala SS. Chevrolet stylists really excelled them selves in putting together a car that looks good from any angle, with handsome triple taillights, and a wide looking grille. Fitted with a 409 or 396, the Impala SS was not just practical and good looking- it was fast too!”
