PART 2....
roadster 8 oct - - 4
WOW! House of Kolor "Tru Blu Pearl" supplied by LJ Smits Group was a great choice for the chassis.

roadster 8 oct - - 6
And gearbox crossmember....

roadster 8 oct - - 1
... Falcon steering box....

roadster 8 oct - - 2
And 9" diff!

roadster 8 oct - - 17
Front end components that weren't chrome plated were painted silver 2 pack. This includes stub axles, transverse spring, steering arms.

roadster 8 oct - - 19
With the chassis and components finished, Les now concentrates on blocking back the body ready for paint.

roadster 8 oct - - 9
Today we also paid a visit to Stu Watts at Sterling Clutch & Brake in Onehunga to pick up new brake lines, fittings, clips and switch.

coker classic big - little
And here are the Coker tyres supplied by BG Marketing - however they will be on CRAGAR "Chrome Smoothy" wheels.

The rear end and suspesion is installed! Next week we hope to pick up the chrome pieces from Otahuhu Chrome Platers to complete the front end and have a rolling chassis.... while Les continues to paint the body.

roadster 22 oct - 6
Jenny of Thames Auto Painters supervises while Les removes the masking from the trunk.

roadster 22 oct - 8
Beautiful! The House of Kolor "Tru Blue" pearl really suits the Roadster.

roadster 22 oct - 10
Radiator surround and trunk lid.

roadster 22 oct - 9
If the Roadster's new owner hasn't been a member of the NZHRA for more than 12 months then they will be required to fit fenders to make the car legal. So this set goes with the car!

roadster 22 oct - 2
We decided that as the Roadster was coming up much better than anticiapted, it was worth taking a look inside the engine to make sure all was in order. The team at Compression Technology (Comtech) really know their stuff and offered to rebuild the engine for us together with ACL, Auckland Camshafts and Foy Machining.

roadster 22 oct - 3
And we are glad we did inspect the engine! The camshaft as 2 lobes missing and there was wear on the crankshaft. So thanks to Comtech, ACL, Auckland Camshafts and Foy Machining the Roadster will have fully rebuilt 300+ HP engine!

Today we fitted the body to the chassis - it all went perfectly!

An old friend sent us this photo tonight - this is the same Roadster back in the late 80s....

roadster 30 oct - 11
Back to the engine rebuild. David Green from Specialty Cars American Auto Parts in Matamata was part of the "V8 Engine Give Away" we did in 2008 and is back on board for BH10. Not only does he have a huge range of V8 engines, gearboxes and diffs, but he is the NZ agent for Street & Performance and Currie Rear Ends. See that beautiful alloy head above????

roadster 30 oct - 5
Well David is supplying these heads for our Roadster! Here he is next to his very cool project Chevy Pick Up truck.

roadster 30 oct - 7
The heads have nice big stainless valves..... This engine is going to a beauty! We'll deliver the heads to Colin at Comtech next Monday.

roadster_2_nov_-_7
Monday morning and we paid a visit to Otahuhu Chrome Platers. Bob is givng the Superbell I Beam axle a final buff.

roadster_2_nov_-_3
Bob has been in the chrome business for 5 decades and has very high standards. He's polishing the windscreen frame and casting his eye over it before wrapping in tissue paper. It's like Christmas time!

roadster_2_nov_-_2
Back at Thames Auto Painters and the front suspension is laid out for assembley.

roadster_2_nov_-_1
While in Auckland picking up the chrome, we stopped by BG Marketing and picked up the Coker bias ply white wall tyres. Next the team at Hauraki Tyre and Battery carefully fit them to the Cragar Smoothie wheels.

roadster_3_nov_-_1
The chassis is now rolling! A big milestone...
